Hiked up Mt Defiance with my mountaineers friend Wendell. Kind of a 2-year anniversary, as this was the first day hike the Monkey Butler and I took when we moved to Seattle, almost exactly 2 years ago. Only this time the MB was doing work on a Sunday. Sucker. Though the weather was crap (welcome to my summer), so maybe I was the sucker. Anyways, nice hike, 4-ish miles up. A couple to Mason Lake, which has 3 good sites and must be crawling with people on nice days. And then a lot of up to the summit. Totally worth it on a clear day. I remember lovely views and fabulous wildflowers. But Wendell and I were sitting in a cloud. Felt good to get out anyways.
